[Verse] At home with the family Hiding presents underneath the tree Ain't no place I'd rather be At Christmas time Got a bunch of songs to sing The old carols, a few new things Can't wait to see what Santa brings At Christmas time [Chorus] Hey It's Christmas time Hey It's Christmas time Peace on Earth good to men Sharing love with family and friends I hope this feeling never ends At Christmas time [Bridge] The snow is falling gently On this peaceful silent night I pour you another glass of wine Drink a toast to the season As we sit in the firelight Nothing could be better Nothing could be better than Christmas Time [Verse] Kids are waiting quiet as mice Didn't need to ask them twice If they've been naughty or nice At Christmas time Unwrap another box of cheer Throw the ribbons over here Mistletoe kisses suddenly appear At Christmas time [Chorus] Hey It's Christmas time Hey It's Christmas time Peace on Earth good to men Sharing love with family and friends I hope this feeling never ends At Christmas time [Tag] Hey It's Christmas time Hey It's Christmas time Jingle Bells...

Well the kids that come and see me Are from the other side of town Their mom and dad can't afford the toys On the lists they've written down And they sit on my lap and whisper Just like I was the real thing They're waiting round for Christmas day To see what I will bring But I'm just a Dime Store Santa A rented suit and shabby beard Five and dime merchandise Is all we carry here But if you can't afford Macy's And Daddy's lost his job Come on over to see me Cause I'm your Dime Store Santy Clause I ain't got no reindeer Tied up to a sled I ain't delivering packages Christmas eve I'll be in bed But I'm here til Sunday If you want to sit on St. Nicks knee You can say hello to Mrs. Clause She's cashier number three I'm just a Dime Store Santa A rented suit and shabby beard Five and dime merchandise Is all we carry here But if you can't afford Macy's And Daddy's lost his job Come on over to see me Cause I'm your Dime Store Santy Clause

Christmas With You The snow’s fallin’ down like angels tears On a winter’s night like the one’s we shared for so many years But now you’ve gone so far, so far away from me And this time of year just ain’t the same as it used to be I’ll light the candles and place them in my windows Like a star for the Kings they’ll help you find your way back home And I’ll think of moments lost Like our breath when it turns to frost I’m closing up my presents with ribbons and rue And I dream about spending Christmas with you I keep our old traditions close to my heart I still trim the tree, light a fire, even though we’re apart I pour a glass of wine and toast some cheer And somehow, I seem to muddle through, even though you’re not here I’ve written out my last card and put them all in the mail I’m not sure if the one I wrote to you will ever find your door I wait for one last kiss Under the mistletoe I make a wish I sing a few notes of a carol we both knew And I dream about spending Christmas with you

When I was a boy we headed down to New York City To see Santa and a Christmas show Me and my folks would sit in the balcony Basking in the holiday glow Then the band started crankin' like a music box Little elves runnin' round in knee-high socks And then girls came on to dance Like Mrs. Clause in heels and hot pants Now I was only five But when I caught St. Nick's eye I knew we were both starin' at those dancer's thighs I fell in love love love Love love love I fell in love With the Radio City Rockettes I'm mesmerized and hypnotized By the synchronicity of their kicks I'm jingle belled and overwhelmed Cause I'm diggin' these Christmas chicks Now I go back every year to see the same old show Just like I did when I was naive The girls look the same standing five foot six Those legs make me want to believe Santa's on stage just takin' it in Ho ho ho he's a gironi' a grin Cause he's got the best view On all of Sixth Avenue Now whenever I see a chorus kick line I get that warm feelin' of Christmas time I fall in love love love Love love love I fall in love with the Radio City Rockettes I fall in love With the Radio City Rockettes Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

For those wanderers and vagabonds The table's been set In hopes that you'll soon be here We've set out the lights On the path to our door For those who might share in our cheer We spent the past year Running here and there Gathering worries like stones and splinters Now we lighten our load Sing some holiday songs As we do each and every winter In this season of hope This season of love It's the season we gather round our own Call it Christmas or whatever your compass may choose It's the season we find our way home You don't need a reason To visit or call We'll gladly welcome you in There's always plenty If not we'll make more Let the season of giving begin The road for some Is a long one It takes years for their journey to end There's wood on our fire So come in from the cold We've always got room for a friend In this season of hope This season of love It's the season we gather round our own Call it Christmas or whatever your compass may choose It's the season we find our way home Welcome home Welcome home my dear Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home my dear In this season of love Welcome home

It's not just one thing It's not just one gift It's not just one smile Or a mistletoe kiss It ain't church once a year So you can sing your favorite hymn It's not just some birthday Or the month we're in The older I get the less I need And the things I want can't fit under a tree If Christmas is love then wrap it up neat And give it to me everyday, everyday Christmas is love Christmas is love Christmas is love And I want Christmas everyday It's not just one card Or a visit from a child It's bot one conversation to the number you just dialed It's not drink with old friend Or some fancy meal A yearly get together Where we hare how we feel Boxes and bows just get tossed aside The only things that last are memories of those times If Christmas is love then wrap it up neat And give it to me everyday, everyday Christmas is love Christmas is love Christmas is love And I want Christmas everyday Noel - Noel - Noel Spread your love every day Just like it was Christmas!

Dark old room black blue December light I’m all alone, but hey that’s every night Out my window there’s just rain and snow Some kiddie special on the TV show Oh man here we go Somebody said it was Christmas Ain’t getting nothing, ain’t got nothing to give Expect No calls from the relatives Drinking beer in my worn out chair Cuz man I just don’t care That’s right Just cuz someone said That is was Christmas I hear the neighbors making noise Those Goddamned Mexican boys I go down the hall knock on their door Cuz I don’t think I can take much more I’m gonna give those people what for Even if it’s Christmas Now standing in the doorway’s a short little guy Big old smile on his face I ain’t sure why Said sorry for the noise come have something to eat Grabbed my arm said I had some people to meet And I stumbled into a room Full of Christmas Now they didn't have much, but neither did I But what they did have was something that never was mine They invited me in without pause or show This bitter old white man never bothered to know A stranger's heart and the love That is Christmas Now some people say we need a big old wall To keep these foreigners out so the country won’t fall I might have held that point of view But after tonight I know it just ain’t true Cuz anger and fear ain’t got nothing to do With Christmas A man named Jesús saved Christmas for me You don’t need to point out the irony He and his wife and two little boys Welcomed me in to share their joy It’d been years since I told anyone to Have a Merry Christmas It felt good just to say Have a Merry Christmas And I truly believed it was A merry Christmas Oh God please let me hold on to The spirit of Christmas

I’m dreaming of a snow day Roll out of bed no school day Light a fire cuddle with you day I’m dreaming of a snow day I’m dreaming of a snow day Sled down the hill screaming all the way Hot chocolate at the café I’m dreaming of a snow day And wouldn’t it be nice If we walked hand-in-hand Down the snowy streets Looking at the shop windows Thinking about presents and Christmas treats Oh I’m dreaming of a snow day White sugary trees day Winter wonderland feeling day I’m dreaming of a snow day Picture a horse and sleigh Gliding through the snowy woods Currier and Ives couldn’t paint a better picture Than I know I could Cause I’m dreaming of a snow day A peaceful quiet simple kind of day But it’s all in my mind anyway I’m just dreaming of a snow day Dreaming of a snow day Dreaming of a snow day

I’m looking underneath my Christmas tree Can’t believe what I see It’s the same old same old I get year after year It’s something they decided I really need A self-help book they think I ought to read But I just grin and fake that holiday cheer Because my kids don’t listen My wife don’t listen My mama never listened and Santa — well he don’t listen to me Because I never never never never never get what I want I never never never never never get what I want I’m dropping hints like a ton of bricks I leave catalogs open to page 26 But no one seems to notice all the clues I leave I go shopping with my wife and say hey that looks nice She says yeah yeah yeah but look at the price She thinks I’ll shoot my eye out on Christmas Eve And the dog don’t listen The neighbors don’t listen The cops don’t listen and Santa he never listens to me Cuz I never never never never never get what I want I never never never never never get what I want Wait a sec… Could it be? Is that a present from my list? Did Santa really listen to me? Oh I never never never never never get what I want I never never never never never get what I want No I never Never ever Man I never, never, never, never, never get what I want… No Well like my Daddy said Ya ain’t gonna get what ya want Unless ya know what ya want So true, so true

Make this the last Christmas song you sing A season’s melody left behind Sing of love for family and friends Hear their chorus returned in kind Sing a verse as you sit by the fire Reminisce about all that transpired Before decorations all come down Make one last joyous sound Make this your last Make this your last Make this your last Your last Christmas song Make this the last Christmas song you sing After New Year’s and Auld Lang Syne Soon long winter months will be here But you’ll recall these lyrics and rhymes Sing as you store it all away The warmth and love of this past holiday Carry it with you in song and cheer Your heart will hold it all year Make this your last Make this your last Make this your last Your last Christmas song

about

I can be a bit “scroogey” about Christmas - maybe I think it makes it fun to be so, but deep down I really like and enjoy the Christmas season. I love singing the carols and hymns in church and the Christmas eve service. I even enjoy singing along to the hokey songs that are on the radio (earlier and earlier each year it seems). So in 2010 I heard a friend’s version of Silent Night and thought to myself that it would be fun to do covers of Christmas songs. But wait! I’m a songwriter, why not write my own Christmas songs!?! How hard could it be? While I contend that if you add sleigh bells to any song it automatically becomes a holiday song, writing a good and meaningful Christmas song is not easy as it might seem. I’m sure you’ll hear certain themes running through the songs but the main theme that I emphasize is family and friends. Like I say in the song “Coming Home”: ‘…it’s the season we find our way home.’

Take a little Mellencamp, throw in some Cash, stir with a dash of Hiatt and flavor with Springsteen & Earle. Sounds Like Darryl Gregory. Heat-n-Eat! mmm good.
